Why Healing Power of Touch Exists: Our Story, and What Sets Us Apart in St. Pete

Sometimes, a business begins with a plan.

And sometimes, it begins as a quiet feeling that refuses to leave.

This is the story of Healing Power of Touch, told in the words of the founder and owner.

For Healing Power of Touch, the idea was present long before it had a name, a location, or a booking page. It grew from lived experience, compassion, and a simple belief: when you are hurting, overwhelmed, or simply longing for rest, you deserve to feel genuinely heard.

You deserve more than a rushed routine.

You deserve an intentional safe space where your shoulders can drop, your breath can deepen, and your body can be met with patience. 🌿

Our Story Began With Pain, and Compassion

Healing Power of Touch became a reality after years of my own personal experience with chronic lower back pain.

Living with pain changes the way I moved through the world, and it may be something you understand deeply too. It can affect your energy, your patience, your sleep, and your sense of connection with your own body. It can also teach you what therapeutic care should feel like, and what it should never feel like.

The purpose behind Healing Power of Touch is not to promise that every ache will disappear in one visit, but that care, intention and experience should always be behind every session. At it’s core, bodywork should always be about creating a way to meet the clients appropriate health goals - long and short term.

For me, this work is deeply personal.

I want you to know that when you are here, you are with someone who truly cares about your experience and is working toward the goal that you decide is right for you.

Over the years, I have also gained knowledge in many ways to support the body with what the earth has provided. In my own lived experience, I have found that natural approaches can work as well as, and sometimes better than, conventional methods. I supported a pet through cancer, tamed my interstitial cystitis, diminished my Raynaud’s syndrome, and helped others with their own journeys.

when I look back, I realize it wasn’t me that did any of this. These things that I used to help reach a health goal…they are already here among us, and they are what did the heavy lifting. We just have to know how to use what has been given by the Great Provider.

Every body is different, this is one person’s lived experience and not a promise or medical advice, that’s something that has to be said.

I believe that your trust in a provider, should not be taken lightly. You work hard for your money, and investing it in your own health is something that should never return void

That is where this story truly begins.

You Should Never Have to Wonder if Anyone Is Listening

There were times when my own experience of receiving massage left more frustration than relief.

I once asked for focused work on my lower back, and that request was overlooked. Instead of listening to what I needed, the session followed the same repetitive strokes from one area to the next.

Another experience, sometime around 2018/2019, involved a costly massage where the movement felt hurried and careless. The sheets were thrown around roughly, my limbs were manhandled, and the entire session felt impersonal. I remember fighting back tears because instead of feeling safe and cared for, I felt unseen.

Those moments stayed close, not because of bitterness, but because they taught me how much the details matter.

The pressure of a hand matters.

The way a sheet is adjusted matters.

The tone of a therapist’s voice matters.

The pause before beginning matters.

At Healing Power of Touch, we never want you to feel like a body being moved through a routine. We want you to feel like a whole person entering a safe, attentive space.

The Difference You’ll Feel

From the moment you arrive, our intention is to help create a sense of ease.

You may notice the warm atmosphere first. Then perhaps the quiet. The soft linens. The gentle pace. The feeling that you do not have to rush to explain yourself or pretend that everything is fine.

Our approach is different from an impersonal, one-size-fits-all experience because we listen before we begin.

We want to understand:

Your comfort and guidance are the keystones to your experience. We do not force your body to move faster than it is ready to move. We allow your unique pacing to shape the session.

Our touch is delivered with care, attention, and experience, not as a mechanical series of motions, but as a mindful conversation between practitioner and body.

That unhurried quality is part of what makes our space feel different.

Why the Nervous System Matters

One of the foundations of our work is the understanding that the nervous system influences how your entire body experiences massage.

When you feel tense, guarded, or on edge, your muscles may naturally tighten. It can be difficult to receive deeper work when your body does not yet feel safe enough to soften.

The parasympathetic nervous system is often described as the body’s “rest and digest” state. It is the calmer side of your nervous system: the state associated with slowing down, settling, breathing more easily, and making space for ordinary restorative processes.

Healing happens in this parasympathetic state, when the body doesn’t have to use it’s energy reserves for alertness, but instead to use that energy to help optimize. And when I say healing, I don’t mean only physical healing. I also mean mental, psychological, and somatic healing: the kind that helps you feel safer in your body, quieter in your mind, and less braced against life.

Uncommon opinion: deep work does not have to begin with force. In order for the deeper muscles to get the nurturing pressure they crave, the superficial layers must first relax. That means slowly working up to deep, especially in those whose nervous system is on high alert often.

Sometimes, the body needs slow nurturing touch first. Sometimes, it needs warmth, steady pressure, or stillness. Sometimes, it needs to know that it is allowed to pause.

Treatments Created for the Whole You

Our services are designed to support body-mind wellness through an integrated wellness approach.

The Intuitouch Experience

The Intuitouch Experience is one of our favorite offerings because it allows the therapist to pay close attention to what your body is communicating.

Rather than following a rigid script, we work mindfully and intuitively, noticing areas that may need more time, lighter pressure, or a different approach.

The goal is not to push through resistance. It is to listen, respond, and allow the session to unfold at a pace that respects you.

Sacred Stone Serenity

*The owner’s most requested service

Sacred Stone Serenity combines the comfort of heated stones with therapeutic massage techniques.

The warmth of the stones can help create a deeply calming experience. As the heat soften the top layers of muscle and other tissues, the therapist may be able to work toward deeper layers with less of the sharp intensity that some may associate with deep-tissue massage.

It is designed to offer a beautiful balance: the soothing comfort of heat with the focused support of deeper work.

Every body is different, so pressure and technique are always adjusted to your needs and comfort level.

A Gentle Invitation to Begin

“A considerable amount of research has been conducted on the benefits of touch. This research supports massage as a beneficial modality for symptom management and anxiety, and as one of the most effective forms of touch.2 Benefits of massage therapy include decreasing the stress response, increasing activation of the cerebral cortex and attentiveness, relieving pain, reducing fatigue, decreasing depression, improving sleep quality, increasing feelings of wellbeing, and enhancing immune function.” read the research here.

Massage is supportive care. It is not a substitute for medical diagnosis or treatment. If you have a health condition, are recovering from an injury, or take medications, please speak with your doctor before scheduling bodywork. Let us know about relevant health concerns so we can discuss whether massage is appropriate and adapt the session with care.

When you are ready, we would be honored to welcome you.
